² “Tell the ·people [^Lsons; children] of Israel this: ‘If a woman [^Lconceives; becomes pregnant and] gives birth to a son, she will become unclean [^Cin a ritual sense] for seven days, as she is unclean during her ·monthly period [menstruation; 15:19]. ³ On the eighth day the ·boy [^Lflesh of his foreskin] must be circumcised [Gen. 17:10–14]. ⁴ Then it will be thirty-three days before she becomes clean from her loss of blood. She must not touch anything that is holy or enter the ·Holy Tent [^Lsanctuary] until her time of ·cleansing [purification] is finished.
